We are in a season of change in the non profit world. For many small non-profits and ministries working to sustain themselves, the challenges have never been greater. The economy, technology and the behaviors of donors are changing– so what do we do?
- We go back to the basics:
1. Create a trustworthy structure, that donors and those who do due diligence for donors will respect.
2. Crystal–that is crystal clear about what you do and your values.
3. Think outcomes. What does an investment in your organization really deliver?
4. Be intentional and purposeful about your funding activity.
Sloppy efforts at fundraising are not proving very successful in this this season, but intentional, persistent and well guided efforts can continue to grow. When it comes to guidance, most smaller non-profits cannot make real progress without some outside guidance. I approach this by providing coaching to them in small groups which has the benefit of creating a learning community while it offer inexpensive expert guidance.
